The Haggadah sums up in a word why we as a Jewish community continue to seek knowledge and understanding. It tells us to
Remember
We are commanded to remember that we were strangers in the land of Egypt and to remember that, with an outstretched arm, God took us out of slavery. Remember is the mandate that makes us who we are and why the Passover story is essential. Memory links our past to our future and turns history into destiny. Remembering to treasure our stories, faith, and history makes us who we are as people.
As we take this week to celebrate our shared history, we hope that the need to remember will continue to be a guidepost and stir each of us to study and teach.
